UGM’s Faculty of Geography Signs IUP Collaboration Agreement with Al Azhar 9 Islamic High School Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, February 3, 2025 – The Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through its International Undergraduate Program (IUP) in Environmental Geography, has officially signed a collaboration agreement with SMA Islam Al Azhar 9 Yogyakarta. The signing ceremony took place at the KLMB Building, Faculty of Geography, UGM, and marks a significant milestone in strengthening academic collaboration between higher education institutions and secondary schools.

This partnership aims to foster intensive student engagement programs for Al Azhar students, enhance teacher competency, and promote the Environmental Geography program at UGM. Additionally, the collaboration will provide insights into the industry’s needs, ensuring that students and educators stay informed about the evolving demands of the environmental and geographical sciences sector. read more

IUP of Environmental Geography Supports Faculty of Geography UGM in Achieving 1st Rank in Indonesia According to EduRank 2024

The Faculty of Geography at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has secured the top position in Indonesia and ranked 137th in Asia in the EduRank 2024 rankings. According to EduRank.org, this ranking is based on an evaluation of 452,000 citations received from 222,000 academic papers produced by 75 universities in Indonesia. The assessment also includes additional indicators related to non-academic excellence and alumni popularity as part of the evaluation criteria.

The Dean of the Faculty of Geography UGM, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Si., M.Sc., expressed his gratitude for this achievement in an interview on Thursday (January 16). He emphasized that this ranking serves as proof of the continuous improvements and advancements made by the faculty across various aspects. read more

IUP of Environmental Geography Supports Low Carbon Emissions through the UGM International Geography Olympiad 2025

The International Undergraduate Program (IUP) of Environmental Geography at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is taking an active role in promoting low-carbon emissions through the UGM International Geography Olympiad 2025. The event, scheduled to take place at the Faculty of Geography UGM, aims to foster awareness and solutions for environmental sustainability while encouraging young geographers to contribute to global climate action.

The International Geography Olympiad (OLGENAS) 2025 officially commenced on Monday (January 20) at the Merapi Auditorium, Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), with a strong commitment to supporting a low-carbon future. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13, which focuses on climate change and global warming. read more

IUP Environmental Geography Admission 2025/2026

Admission Requirements

The admission of International Undergraduate Program in Environmental Geography is conducted by applications, entrance examinations. and interviews. The entrance examination is held by the admission committee of International Undergraduate Program in Geography Faculty, Universitas Gadjah Mada. All prospective students are to pass the following university admission tests:

  • Gadjah Mada Scholastic Test (GMST) and Academic English Proficiency Test (AcEPT) hosted by UGM
  • Interview and Leaderless Group Discussion (LGD) based test.

Admission Schedule

The International Undergraduate Program will start in the 1st Semester of 2025/2026 academic period. The academic schedule is adjusted to the university admission, which is normally held in January to May 2025. The selection process of the applicants is targeted to finish by July 2025. Enrollment process will be from July to August 2025, while the 1st semester will begin in August 2025 to January 2026. read more

All Study Programs at the Faculty of Geography UGM Receive Full ASIIN Accreditation

After nearly nine months of anticipation, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, the international accreditation agency ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik) announced that all study programs at the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), have achieved “Full Accreditation (without requirements).”

The six accredited programs include the undergraduate programs in Environmental Geography (GEL), Cartography and Remote Sensing (KPJ), and Regional Development (PW), each granted a seven-year accreditation period from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2031. The Master’s programs in Geography (MGEO), Remote Sensing (MPJ), and the Doctoral program in Geography (DIG) received a six-year accreditation, effective from December 5, 2024, to September 30, 2030. read more
